WHAT IS IT?

Cette eau thermale jouit de multiples bienfaits, notamment des propriétés apaisantes et antioxydantes.

Elle se distingue par son équilibre exceptionnel de minéraux et d'oligoélements.

WHERE DOES IT
COME FROM?

La Roche-Posay thermal spring water has been extensively studied. And, in 1997, scientists have discovered that it appears to be the product of a mixture of rain water percolating very slowly through chalky and selenium-rich rocks from the very old Turonian period (90 million years ago) and a very deep and ancient water (approximately 1700 years old) located in the sand of the Cenomanian period (100 million years ago).

By a phenomenon of artesianism (underground water gushing up to the surface of the soil), this deep water rises by circulating through the different geological layers of the soil. This is what makes this spring water unique in terms of physicochemical properties and clinical benefits. Each source has a specific flow and mineralization.

The water is lightly mineralized and contains calcium bicarbonate, silicates and selenium.
Selenium is a trace element involved in the activity of numerous enzymes. It plays an essential role for the body: antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune system regulator.
Thanks to its specific mineral content, La Roche-Posay spring water has dermatological anti-inflammatory, healing and soothing properties.
On top of that, it is very pleasant to drink as it does not have any specific taste.

By Council of State decree, the thermal spring of La Roche-Posay was declared of public interest on August 3rd, 2018*.
Protecting this precious resource should ensure its sustainability and preserve its therapeutic properties for the sake of patients as well as the interest of La Roche-Posay thermal center.

La Roche-Posay spring water is carefully protected from any pollution from its outlet to collection points, without undergoing any treatment, to preserve all its constituents and properties.
It is used and drunk every day at La Roche-Posay thermal center.

At the thermal center, thanks to its specific mineral composition, La Roche-Posay thermal spring water therapeutic properties have been acknowledged for decades.
The therapeutic renown of La Roche-Posay goes back to the 17th century when Louis XIII personal physician performs his first analyses and documents his related observations.
During the 17th century, the growing notoriety was such that the French Academy of Medicine ended up sending observers to check out the “famous” thermal water. Two centuries later, Napoleon even built 2 thermal hospitals nearby to heal skin conditions of his soldiers.
La Roche-Posay station is formally recognized as being of public utility by the French Academy of Medicine in 1869, and in 1905, the first La Roche-Posay thermal center was inaugurated.
La Roche-Posay thermal center is specifically intended to manage relapsing skin conditions as well as disorders that are resisting to conventional treatments.

Fundamental and clinical research related to La Roche-Posay thermal water efficacy in skin condition management has been published in numerous international dermatology journals and presented at international dermatology congresses.

By providing access to clinical data obtained through partnerships with research institutes, universities and hospital units, La Roche-Posay managed to convince healthcare professionals of the effectiveness of its thermal spring water ; consequently leading to its integrated use in current dermatology practice.
